Lady Panthers one game back of Lovejoy

The Lady Panthers finished last week with a pair of 13-3A wins: 10-2 over Emory Rains and Farmersville 6-2.

“Both teams played very hard and we were glad to come out with two wins,” head coach Craig Deputy said.

They concluded the first half March 30 at home versus Quinlan Ford, the results of which were unavailable at press time.

The Lady Panthers are sitting at No. 13 in the most recent Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 3A Top 20.

As of March 29 the Lady Panthers were sitting alone in second place at 3-1 and Farmersville was third at 2-2. Holding the top spot is state-ranked Lovejoy at 4-0.

“The girls are focused and ready to make a run at the district title,” Deputy said. “We are a well rounded team with pitching, speed, defense and offense.”

The Lady Leopards are perched atop the TGCA 3A Top 20.

Princeton strung together 15 hits and allowed just four against Emory Rains.

The top hitters were Chanin Naudin and Sierra Thompson, each of whom had a double.

Picking up the win was Shelby Ballenger. Princeton then got another road win at Farmersville.

The Lady Panthers managed eight hits and surrendered four.

Collecting extra-base hits were Jordan Strickland (double), while Janine Godwin and Naudin each had a triple.

Ballenger again earned the win.

The second round commences April 6 at home with Community.

Princeton hits the road April 9 for a much-anticipated rematch with Lovejoy.

Games remaining in the regular season are versus Emory Rains (April 13) and on the road with Farmersville (April 16) and Quinlan Ford (April 20).
