Man dies after officer involved shooting

Date: Friday, September 07, 2012

After an officer involved shooting that occurred last night in Blue Ridge, the suspect died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

At 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 two Colllin County Sheriff Deputies were delivering a Class A misdemeanor  warrant for a terroristic threat to a suspect on CR 580 near Blue Ridge when he allegedly drew a firearm and shots were exchanged.

No deputies were injured though the suspect and his mother both suffered gunshot wounds.

The suspect then retreated into the house where he shot himself.  Both the suspect and his mother were transported via air ambulance to the hospital. The suspect died of the gunshot wound at about 9 p.m., according to information from Collin County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer John Norton.

The identities of the suspect and his mother are not being released by authorities at this time.

Further investigation is being handled by the Texas Rangers.
