Billy H. Combest

Billy H. Combest, age 80, of Princeton, Texas, passed away January 31, 2012, in Allen, Texas. Billy was born March 8, 1931, in Anna, Texas, to Edgar and Edna (Johnson) Combest. He married Freda Carbaugh on June 19, 1954, in Reno, Nevada. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Billy retired as a Dallas Police Officer after twenty-six years. He became an ordained Baptist minister and then worked for the Dallas Police Department as Chaplain for another twenty-eight years. After his years as a police officer, he was a private detective and taught Criminal Law on the college level. Billy was a member of East Dallas Masonic Lodge #1200, Princeton Lodge # 1436, Princeton Order of Eastern Star #1126, Hella Shrine, Dallas Scottish Rite, Sherman Indivisible Friends Commandery #13, Sherman Chapter of Royal Arch Masons #62, Sherman Counsel of Royal and Select Masters #43, North Texas York Rite College #118 and North Texas Priory #73. Billy was a member of the Princeton City Council for ten years and served as Mayor Pro Tem. Billy was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Princeton. He is survived by his wife, Freda Combest of Princeton, Texas; daughters, Debra Boyd of Princeton, Texas and Susan Pruett and husband, Greg, also of Princeton; grandchildren, Jeff Pruett and wife, Elizabeth, Jason Pruett, Andrea Culverhouse and husband, Jason, and Michelle Massey and husband, Mike, all of Princeton, Texas; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Landry, London, Jaden, Jack, Nolan, Jayse, Jasey, Kaylee, and Ryan; sisters, Peggy Minihan and husband, Pat of Wylie, Texas and Edith Barnett of Princeton, Texas and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed Combest, Alton Combest, and Weldon Combest and sisters, Lois Barnett and T. V. Stroud. Funeral services and Police Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Faith Baptist Church, 1306 N 6th Street, Princeton, Texas with Pastor Stan Fike officiating. A masonic graveside will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
