A disagreement between two brothers escalated into a shooting Sunday, Jan. 17.
According to police reports, the two men were involved in a traffic collision on Hwy. 380, before the suspect, Alcides Gerardo Bautista-Perez, exited his vehicle and shot the man later identified as Ociel Bautista-Perez, his brother.
During the evening of Jan. 19 Princeton police officers issued a warrant for Alcides for aggravated assault. The suspect is a 35 year old hispanic male from Bonham.
According to police reports, about 4:30 a.m. Jan. 17, a Greenfield Acres resident contacted police and emergency medical services after he heard Ociel crying for help. Ociel told the resident he had been shot.
Police said the victim was conscious and alert when officers arrived on the scene. He later informed police he had driven himself to the residential area to find help.
Ociel, a 28-year-old from Bonham, was transported to Medical City in Plano, where x-rays confirmed that he had been shot by what was likely a shotgun. As of Jan. 19, he was listed in stable condition.
Based on information provided by Ociel, Princeton Police Chief Jeff Barnett said officers believe the shooting occurred along Hwy. 380, near the First Bank of Farmersville.
Ociel told police he was driving behind his brother, when the two were involved in a collision on Hwy. 380. The drivers then pulled their vehicles onto the shoulder of the road where the suspect exited his vehicle and approached Ociel who was still sitting in his own vehicle. Ociel said his brother shot him once in the torso.
As of Wednesday, Jan. 20, Alcides had not yet been arrested. The vehicle he was driving Jan. 17 has been impounded.
