From staff reports
Oct. 24 the Princeton High School robotics team earned second place in the game portion of the Collin County robotics competition in Wylie.
Because of its success at the contest, the team will advance to the state competition Dec. 5 at the University of North Texas in Denton.
Science teacher Darryl Spurgers sponsors the robotics team, which is comprised of approximately 15 students from PHS.
Since it was created in 1997, the PHS robotics team has advance to state eight times. In 2010 the school will host the CoCo BEST competition.
According to the CoCo BEST Web site, http://www.cocobest.org, the Boosting, Engineering, Science and Technology program “hopes to inspire and motivate students towards studies and careers in engineering, science and technology.”
In order to compete in the BEST competition, students had to design and produce a radio-controlled machine that was able to accomplish a defined task, including transporting several containers.
